Design Program

SKP Design expanded this client’s kitchen by removing a wall between the existing dining room and kitchen.  A warm, comfortable, modern design was implemented by the use of new, two-toned cabinetry of clear maple and peppercorn oak. An artistic island with a functional workspace and room for seating was added for the client to be able to overlook the back yard while cooking and tending to children. The island counter top is composed of a mix of wood and deep brown with blue accented granite. The kitchen’s perimeter counters are topped with a warm beige granite with red accents.  The contrasting finishes are tied together with the mosaic glass tile backsplash that was selected against the background of rich brown tile.

New lighting was selected to accent the island and dining room table. Efficient, yet decorative cabinetry was also added in the dining room to display dishes and to hide a small resourceful office area.
