Client Overview

Continental Pastries and Deli has been a part of the Battle Creek tradition for 30 years. The Bakery owner has showcased her Eastern European Heritage through her desserts, décor and logo. The owner recently purchased the neighboring ice cream shop to join the two spaces together, expand the deli and add more seating for the growing lunchtime crowd.

Design Program

The design continues the European flair while infusing trendy colors, more texture and whimsical light fixtures.  Scandinavian patterns were incorporated in the wall tile in the bathrooms and in the graphics on the walls in the ice cream shop. SKP Design was given the challenge of making the spaces feel unified and inviting for all patrons.  Decorative iron gates were used to section off one space from the other during the varied business hours. The tone of the existing millwork was reused and a durable porcelain tile floor in a wood plank pattern was added.  Brick was incorporated to give more of a loft feel. SKP Design also designed the new logo and custom menu boards to continue the European theme.

The next phase of renovation will include new exterior signage and an outdoor seating area.

The Renovated Square Footage is 4,200
